I made this piece for the 2010 Quilting Arts Calendar competition. The theme was “Fresh Picked.” It is based on a photo I took of mini-pumpkins at my local farm market. Each pumpkin was constructed separately before it was sewn to the background. A second layer of batting was added behind some of the pumpkins to give them extra dimension. I used water-soluble crayons to add some details and shading.
It was chosen for the month of October! And that’s my piece, “Citrus Slices,” on the cover.
